Train around old injuries. Tell your coach what to look out for and they will adjust.
The same techniques as every other class, just taught at a pace that fits.
Members train well into their 60s and 70s here.

Instruction heavy jiu jitsu at a slower pace. Built for ages 40 and up, but open to anyone easing back onto the mats or into the sport of jiu jitsu.
See class times →I started training in Brazilian Jiu jitsu at age 67 and I'm now 73. … The lessons learned during training will touch every area of your life. Age is not a limitation.
I can’t imagine anywhere better to be. … I joined recently as a beginner in my 40s. Every single person I’ve met from the instructors to students at every level and belt has taken time to help me … My son joined at 10 years old after a year at another gym. He has improved more over the last few months than in the year he spent elsewhere.
I am a 39 year old former wrestler with some old injuries from my wrestling days. … I didn't know what to expect but I found everyone so helpful and nice. … everyone was so friendly and would take time to better explain positions and guide me in learning the technique.
Yes. Godfather Jiu Jitsu on Tuesdays and Thursdays is a lot slower, so it's a good place to test an injury before a more intense class. Let your coach know about it before class.
Then you're in the right place. You don't need any experience to start. Beginners and people who have trained for years take the same classes, and our coaches make sure both get what they need.
Gym clothes are perfect. Bring a jiu jitsu gi if you have one; for No Gi, a rash guard and shorts work best. Nobody gets turned away for not having gear.

Professor Joel teaches kids and adults, and still trains every day on a knee replacement. Away from the gym, he likes old trucks.
